10 Things Americans Waste money On!

When I made a vow to never use debt as a tool in my financial plan, people responded with a resounding “good luck with that”. But, it has been almost ten years, and I’m still going strong! Maybe one day I’ll tell my story.

Some of the things that I cut out of my daily routine in order to make this debt free life actually happen were:

  • Credit Cards: I don’t use them and I don’t want them. If you ask my kids they will say Credit cards are the devil.
  • Eating out: I cut back on my eating out when I realized I could eat lunch at work for 2 weeks on the twenty dollars or so that I was spending on food per week.
  • Overdraft fees: When I started maintaining a minimum balance in my account It covered all of my oops’, especially when the rep said,  “Sorry Mr Stokes we refunded the NSF fee last month”.
  • Coffee Trips: When I started making my coffee at home, not only did it taste better, I got to go back for a refill too!!!

With these cut backs alone I started seeing less and less month at the end of my money. That extra money which helped me do other things, put money away for the future, and  start building my own furniture!
