Put out more than you take in!

One of my biggest challenges is steadily keeping track of all of my meals.  For me, and I’m not sure if I’ve said this before but, I LOVE to eat.  It is because of that, that I know keeping track of my meals is something I definitely have to do to ensure I’m eating more of the right kind of meals.  Today along with my workout,  and 3 mile run I made an effort to track my food intake, with the goal maintaining a daily good journal.

When you are trying to build a savings account the goal is to make sure you put in to the account more than you take out of the account!  Similarly to meet your fitness goals, and when measuring your calories,  you have to make sure your expenditure is more than your input!   In other words, you can eat what ever you want provided you burn just an many, or more calories;  or at least that is what an author, with more letters at the end of his name than I have, advised.

By the end of the day, I’d not had enough to eat according to my food journal, so I did what any normal person would do, I had two Reese’s Peanut Butter cups right!  Still by all standards though, I may either be under eating or working-out too hard!  On my #Journeyto13.1 I know like any other athlete, runners must maintain a balanced diet in order to have the energy to complete the race!

2 things I learned during my this weekends 4 mile run

Normally I listen to music when I run on the weekends   It helps me to pace myself to endure the distance.  But since I wasn’t running a long distance this weekend.  I decided not to go with the tradition.  I decided to listen to something on my podcast list.   It didn’t matter what was on, all of my podcasts are 45 minutes or longer, so I would be close to finished by the time the podcast was done.  What came on was exactly what I needed to hear this weekend.

  1. The only thing that can hold you back is yourself.  If you are anything like me the loudest voice in your ear is your own negative voice telling you that you can’t do it.  It is not until we quiet that negative voice in our own head that we can hear other’s cheering us on to succeed.  It is important, to have positive messages  and people around you and equally as important that you change the negative voice in your head to a positive voice.
  2. Just like many business endeavors and personal projects, in running you cannot finish a race until you have taken.  the first step. you finish the race not by focusing on the finish line, but by focusing on the next step that you have to take.

Sometimes you need to tell your inner voice to be quiet so you can focus on the next step!

My thoughts on The 5 lessons A Millionaire Taught Me by Richard Paul Evans

Author Dan Miller issued a suggestion to his podcast listener. The suggestion was, take a millionaire to lunch and to pick his brain. Unfortunately for me, In my world. Millionaires are not really a dime a dozen. And If they are, the are not really broadcasting their location. Lucky for me, however, that Richard Paul Evans shared lessons that he learned from a Millionaire.

It is definitely a book to have in your library. If only to refer back to the 5 lessons or the 4 Millionaire Mindsets. I started reading the book on a Sunday night and finished it Monday morning. Out of the 133 pages in the book 20 or so pages are devoted to forms and resources that you can utilize to practice living the 5 lessons, leaving 106 of lessons and tips for the road to wealth.

The lessons are not new lessons, In fact, each lesson looks similar to the works of other’s studying the rich or how money works. “You are what you think you are”, “Control thy expenditures”, “Pay yourself first”,  “Win in the margins”… okay, I really couldn’t think of an analogy for this one, but If you study the life of Warren Buffett, I’m pretty sure you’ll see a correlation.  To Mr. Evans’ credit, in reading this book I did not feel like I was reading a recapture of the works of other authors.

Definitely worth the time!
