I’ve learned a valuable lesson over the years: when you say you can’t do something, it’s like a red flag that signals the end of the conversation. You’ll never be able to pursue your dreams or goals if you keep saying that. Your brain treats it as a final decision, so there’s no room for further exploration or growth.
We often fall into this trap with money. When we see something we want, we might say, “Oh, I can’t afford that,” and our brains just move on to the next thing on our list. But instead of giving up, let’s try a different approach.
When you face a challenge, your brain goes into overdrive, trying to find a solution. I recently experienced this firsthand. After an injury, I couldn’t run the way I wanted to, and I was afraid I’d never be able to run again—a hobby I loved. But instead of telling myself I’d never run again, I asked myself, “How can I do this again? How can I run races again?”
My mind, along with the support of my family, worked hard to find a solution. And guess what? We found a way to get me back on the track! I even managed to complete two races!
So, here’s my advice: stop saying what you can’t do. It’s a limiting belief that holds you back from achieving your goals. Instead, ask yourself, “How can I do this instead?” This opens your mind up to a world of possibilities and solutions.
Have a fantastic financial fitness Friday!
