A few months ago, prior to feeling this pain in my leg, I had managed to run a full 10 miles. Despite my accomplishment, I was a bit disappointed at my performance. During the run, I hit a few obstacles which made me have to slow down and even walk. I didn’t stop moving, but I did slow my pace down way further than I wanted to.
Today during my run as I listened to a Chris Hogan Podcast, he reminded me. That it is okay to not hit every goal. What is not okay, is giving up. I thought about that as I ran. Would I want my children to see me give up? Of course not! In fact, those failed achievements can be used as a learning experience for the next time I try. Too often when people don’t hit their goals they simply stop. They stop trying and they give up. But if we would only re-frame that experience and look at the failure as an opportunity to learn, and try again, you will improve, you will get better, and you will succeed!
As my wife always tell me and our children “practice makes you better!” Don’t try to be perfect every time. Just try to do it better!
That make another 2-miles, in the books!
