2 things I learned during my this weekends 4 mile run

Normally I listen to music when I run on the weekends   It helps me to pace myself to endure the distance.  But since I wasn’t running a long distance this weekend.  I decided not to go with the tradition.  I decided to listen to something on my podcast list.   It didn’t matter what was on, all of my podcasts are 45 minutes or longer, so I would be close to finished by the time the podcast was done.  What came on was exactly what I needed to hear this weekend.

  1. The only thing that can hold you back is yourself.  If you are anything like me the loudest voice in your ear is your own negative voice telling you that you can’t do it.  It is not until we quiet that negative voice in our own head that we can hear other’s cheering us on to succeed.  It is important, to have positive messages  and people around you and equally as important that you change the negative voice in your head to a positive voice.
  2. Just like many business endeavors and personal projects, in running you cannot finish a race until you have taken.  the first step. you finish the race not by focusing on the finish line, but by focusing on the next step that you have to take.

Sometimes you need to tell your inner voice to be quiet so you can focus on the next step!
