My how the [running] tables have turned

When we first started running my wife told me, she couldn’t stand running with me.  During our runs, according to her, I would slow down, run in place, or circle back in order to continue running with her.   After putting up with my antics for some time, she took things into her own hands and eventually told me that she really hated running with me. Of course, she did her training when I was not at home and out of town.

Today, for our entire 6 miles run she ran just a couple of seconds ahead of me.  The further we ran, the more energy she seemed to have.   I found myself yelling at her, in my mind, four miles in.  As I slowed my pace in order to catch my breath, all I kept thinking to myself was, “I can’t stand you, you are still a ball of energy!”    My how the tables have turned!  While I’ll probably be fussing with her during our next run as well, I’ll end it with a different thought, “I love this woman!”
